Sunday October 23, 4 p.m.

Hendricks Chapel

Commissioned musical work by Greg Wanamaker with visuals by Carrie Mae Weems is the major work in a program around themes of 19th century Central New York including of political activism, such as the women’s rights movement, abolitionism and the Underground Railroad.
"Both artists are interested in narrative; Ms.Weems has worked with photography, video and text, while Mr. Wanamaker has worked with music and photography. Although from opposite backgrounds, they respect one another’s work and are interested in dealing with the intersection between the narrative and expressive, the lyricism of music and moving image, the counterpoint between tension and release. Ms. Weems has recently moved to Syracuse, while Wanamaker is a native of Skaneateles, about 25 miles from Syracuse. He recently moved back to Upstate New York to teach at SUNY-Potsdam.
