Stone Canoe

Acknowledgements - Issue 3

Stone Canoe Number 3 is dedicated to W.D. Snodgrass, widely acknowledged as one of the most important poets of the modern era, winner of countless prizes and honors, and a good friend to our journal since its inception.  "De" taught at Syracuse University from 1968-78, and helped shape the careers of many important poets of the succeeding generation, some of whom have appeared in our pages. We are proud to feature in this issue four of his better-known poems, including an excerpt from his Pulitzer Prize-winning book Heart’s Needle, and their companion paintings by his long-time friend and collaborator DeLoss McGraw.
