Acknowledgements - Issue 5
Stone Canoe Number 5 is dedicated to Lucille Clifton, a distinguished
American poet from Buffalo, New York, who passed away in 2010. As
evidenced by the tributes here, she had a lasting influence on other
important poets who came under her spell, and her spirited, vernacular
style helped free poetry from its historic formal constraints. Thanks to BOA
Editions, her publisher, we are able to offer samplings of her work in our
pages, as selected by Minnie Bruce Pratt, poetry editor for SC5.
