Stone Canoe is a community project committed to showcasing the work of artists and writers from, or somehow connected to, the Upstate New York region. Please include your connection to this region in your short biography. Note: The artist / writer must have a first-person connection to Upstate New York, but the subject matter of the submission does not need to involve the area. Typical personal connections can include growing up, attending college or an artist's residency, or being employed in the region. Also please indicate if your work has been submitted simultaneously to any other publication(s).

There is no fee to submit work to Stone Canoe. All contributors who fit the criteria are automatically considered for the Stone Canoe Annual Awards - no additional application or fee is required.

To submit your work:

  • fill out our submission form online during the period specified and attach an electronic copy of your work.
  • Writers should submit work in either Rich Text Format (rtf) or as a Word® document.
  • Visual artists may attach low resolution (72 dpi) tif, gif or jpg images. If accepted for publication, high resolution images will be needed (approximately 300 dpi at 7"x10" size).
